Help Where It’s Needed

Landcare can provide advice on all the most common Peninsula weeds or you can use the National Pest Plant Accord to identify and deal to weeds such as agapanthus, the dreaded woolly nightshade (Solanum mauritianum) and many other invasive weeds.

Gorse Spider MiteWe are always attempting to test new methods of bio-control

Bio control methods already introduced and surviving well on the Awhitu Peninsula include the gorse spider mite, a lacebug for woolly nightshade and a flea for ragwort.
