Welcome Sigrid, our new Nursery Manager
We asked Sigrid to tell us about herself:
“Hi, my name is Sigrid Sharplin and I have lived on the Awhitu Peninsula for the past four years with my husband and three children. My interest in nature started at a young age and was influenced by my father’s love of native plants.
I studied Horticulture at M.I.T and over the past 14 years have been involved in the industry. This year I am studying Rongoā Māori (plant based holistic medicine) and will graduate with my Diploma in December.
I’d like to acknowledge all the volunteers who have made Awhitu Landcare a success with a special mention to Adam who has taken me under his wing to share a wealth of knowledge. I look forward to giving back to our wonderful community here in Awhitu.”
We know that Sigrid’s passion for nature means that she is absolutely in the right job managing our community plant nursery, and we look forward to a long and happy partnership.
